Here Are the Least-Healthy New Restaurant Meals in 2018
I think this study is supposed to DISCOURAGE me from eating a bunch of things, so I guess it’s not good that I’m looking at it as a to-do list.
The Center for Science in the Public Interest just put out their annual report on the LEAST-HEALTHY new meals at chain restaurants.
Here are some highlights, pretty much all of which contain an entire day’s worth of calories . . .
1. Cheesecake Factory’s breakfast burrito . . . 2,730 calories.
2. AMC Theaters’ soft pretzel . . . 1,920 calories.
3. Chili’s honey chipotle chicken crispers on waffles . . . 2,510 calories.
4. Uno Pizzeria & Grill’s deep dish buffalo chicken mac and cheese . . . 2,320 calories.
5. Cheesecake Factory’s pizza that uses fried chicken instead of a crust . . . 1,870 calories.
6. Shake Shack’s roadside double cheeseburger with fries and a shake . . . 2,240 calories.
This To-Go Box Trick Could Help You Eat Less at Restaurants
You might get a weird look from your waiter for this, but apparently it works . . .
If you want to eat less the next time you’re out at a restaurant, ask them to bring a box for your leftovers WITH your food, not after you’re done.
A new study at Penn State found you’re less likely to overeat if you know you have the option of taking leftovers home with you. And having a to-go box in front of you the whole time could help with that.
Two groups of women were given the same amount of food. But before each meal, one group was told they could take any leftovers home in a doggy bag. And because of that one thing, they consistently ate less.
Now, we saw one headline about it that said you should ask for a to-go box BEFORE you order . . . which would be even weirder than asking for one WITH your food. But it’s probably not necessary.
The point is to just have it right there in front of you while you’re eating, as a reminder that you don’t have to clean your plate. So that way, you’re more likely to stop eating when you’re full.
Kool Aid Man Running For Mayor
Coast Mountain News claims Kool-Aid’s mascot, Kool-Aid Man, is running for Mayor of Terrace, Canada. Comedian Danny Nunes is wearing the costume while he campaigns. He tells the paper; “I am sure you have heard the phrase, ‘don’t drink the Kool-Aid’ during elections or about political parties. It’s an emphasis on trying to get young people out to the polls to vote, and try and get the voter turnout in Terrace up a little bit higher than usual. It’s a unique way of telling people there’s an election coming up. How do you get young people to turn out to the polls? This is how you do it. Through Kool-Aid.”
