If You Can’t Stand on One Leg for 10 Seconds, You Might Die Within 10 Years

Here’s a safe, simple health test for older adults:  Try to stand on one leg for 10 seconds.  If you can’t do it, no worries.  You just might die within a decade.

Researchers in Brazil just published the results of a study that found that adults between the ages of 51 and 75 who CAN’T stand on one leg for 10 seconds . . . without any additional support . . . are twice as likely to die within 10 years.

There’s no direct connection between balance and one particular disease . . . although generally, those who failed were in poorer health.  Many were obese, had heart disease, or high blood pressure.  So that might have contributed to the higher death rate among those who had bad balance.
