Netflix Is Being Sued for Defamation Over “Inventing Anna”

Netflix is being sued for defamation over the miniseries “Inventing Anna”.

The plaintiff is Rachel Williams. . . a friend of con artist Anna Sorokin.  Rachel was played on the show by Katie Lowes, and she’s not a fan of how she was portrayed.

She says that basically everything about her on the show is made up, and she’s not the “greedy, snobbish, disloyal, dishonest, cowardly, manipulative, and opportunistic person” they made her out to be.

As far as Rachel’s concerned, quote, “Netflix purposely used my real name, and real aspects of my life, to create a totally false and defamatory characterization of me.  The truth matters and portraying real people requires real responsibility.

“I am filing this lawsuit to hold Netflix accountable for its deliberate recklessness.”

For the record, the show never tried to hide the fact that it took dramatic liberties.  It even carried a disclaimer that said, “This story is completely true.  Except for the parts that are totally made up.”
