Target Removing ‘Baby Daddy’ Father’s Day Cards After Shoppers Upset

Shoppers Call The Cards ‘An Insult’

Target is under fire for selling “Baby Daddy” greeting cards for Father’s Day. The card was first spotted on May 31st by a shopper named Takeisha Saunders of Rockwall, Texas. Saunders took to her Facebook page to complain about the card posting, “you CANNOT be serious Target!!!! Really!!?!!!!? This was the only Father’s Day card that featured a black couple!!!!!”

Target has addressed the public’s concern with the greeting card and issued a statement. “We were made aware of some concerns about this card last week and are working with our vendor to have it removed from Target stores.”

Although there were words like “father” and “husband” used on the inside of the card, Saunders says that her husband would’ve been upset if he received the card because of what the phrase represents in black culture.
