So why is the cost of college so expensive? Analyst’s say that U.S. colleges spend more on student housing and meals than other countries. This is because American students are more likely to move away from home to go to school.
But the biggest factor is the high salaries for staff and faculty. Professors in the US make more than double than their counterparts in countries like Germany or Sweden. On average colleges cost $30,000 a year per student, but college graduates tend to earn about 75 percent more than someone with a high school diploma.
