You may have noticed men walking around with just one fingernail painted. Just search the hashtag #polishedman and you’ll find a ton of pics of men with just a single digit polished. The hashtag is the brain child of the nonprofit YGAP, and it’s purpose is to challenge men, and raise awareness of violence against children. 1 in 5 children will suffer physical and/or sexual violence before age 18 & 90% of this violence is committed by men.

Their website states:
“Men can be tremendous leaders within their networks, workplaces and homes. At YGAP, we want men of all ages to lead by example and end violence against children.”

And that “Being a Polished Man means challenging violent behavior and language, both locally and globally. We hope that as the campaign progresses each year, men will lead a change in the conversation about what it means to be a man—including leadership, mate-ship and courage that serves to help, not harm. By promoting positive male role models who support equality and child rights, we can create a community of male change-makers.”
So next time you see a guy with one nail painted, you know he’s one of the good ones.
