Why You Shouldn’t Wash Your Contacts Down The Drain

We’ve all done it, but this is pretty scary.

A  new study from the American Chemical Society says that 21 percent of people flush their old contacts down the drain. And according to them, this is awful for the environment.

Contacts don’t break down in the environment easily. So if 3 Billion contacts get washed into our water systems, this means that 50 tons of old contacts could end up in our water. This water fertilizes our crops and the animals we eat drink from it.

In short, we shouldn’t flush or wash our contacts down the drain.
