Five Common Phrases People Get Wrong All the Time
Do you know anyone who says “supposably” instead of “supposedly”? The first one is wrong, so they look as dumb as Joey from “Friends”. But if you point it out, YOU feel like a jerk.
Here are five more common phrases we get wrong all the time . . .
1. “For all intensive purposes.” It’s really “for all INTENTS and purposes.” The other way is like saying, “for all these very thorough purposes.” Which doesn’t make sense.
2. “Nip it in the butt.” The correct phrase is “nip it in the BUD,” like a flower bud. The other way makes it sound like you want to BITE someone’s butt.
3. “One in the same.” If you say it like that, it doesn’t make sense. The real phrase is, “one AND the same,” which means two things are alike.
4. “Case and point.” The correct way to say it is, “case IN point.” It’s like saying, “Here’s an example of the point I’m trying to make.”
5. “I could care less.” If you say it like that, you’re really saying you DO care about something. The correct phrase is, “I COULDN’T care less.”
Here’s one more weird one: “You’ve got another thing coming” is technically wrong.
The original phrase was, “If that’s what you think, you’ve got another THINK coming.” We dropped the first part a long time ago, and now everyone says “thing.” So in that case, you sound like an idiot if you say it RIGHT.

Here’s how I know people like Coke more than Pepsi. If you order Coke at a restaurant and they only have Pepsi, the server asks, “Is Pepsi okay?” No one EVER orders a Pepsi and hears, “Is Coke okay?”
But in blind taste tests, people are more likely to say they like Pepsi more than Coke.
And here’s why. Pepsi is sweeter than Coke, and has a slight citrus flavor burst when you first drink it. So when you take one sip, that sweetness and citrus burst taste better.
But as you drink an entire can, that burst goes away, and the sweetness starts to become too much.
Coke is smoother, it has a hint of vanilla, and it’s less sweet. So as you drink a whole can, it tastes better and better.
That’s why Pepsi wins taste tests, but people prefer Coke overall. Now you know.
Attention, “Harry Potter” Fans: There’s a New Butterbeer Ice Cream on Sale
You wouldn’t want to eat most of the food that’s mentioned in the “Harry Potter” books. Because it’s either weird magical stuff, or it’s British food. Either way: Gross. But there’s one major exception.
The characters in “Harry Potter” drink something called Butterbeer, which basically sounds like a butterscotch version of root beer. And now, you can buy Butterbeer flavored ICE CREAM.
Yuengling’s Ice Cream created the flavor out of buttercream and butterscotch ice creams, and a butterscotch swirl. It should be available in most grocery stores, and they say it’s going to be available permanently.
