Heinz’s Overseas Ketchup-Mayo Hybrid Is Called “Mayochup” . . . and You Can Vote to Bring It to America

Heinz has a product in the Middle East called “Mayochup,” which is a mix of ketchup and mayonnaise.  It’s been on sale for a few years, but it’s just starting to get major attention.

Now . . . that combo of ketchup and mayo is pretty familiar to us over here.  We have lots of other names for it:  Fry sauce, Big Mac sauce, Thousand Island, Russian dressing, burger sauce, and cocktail sauce, just off the top of my head.

But that’s not enough.  We want THIS sauce.  And Heinz knows it, so they’re attempting a pretty ambitious viral stunt.

They put up a Twitter poll yesterday that says, quote, “Want Mayochup in stores?  500,000 votes for ‘yes’ and we’ll release it to you saucy Americans.”

You Shouldn’t Eat Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup? Plus Three More Popular Food Combos to Rethink

Today is National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day.  But according to nutritionists, pairing it with tomato soup is NOT always a good idea.  Here are four popular food combos you might want to rethink . . .

1.  Grilled cheese and tomato soup.  The cheese and the acid in the soup are hard to digest at the same time.  So you can end up with a stomach ache.  Plus, the soup has a lot of sugar, the grilled cheese has a lot of fat, and they’re both high in sodium.

2.  Chips and salsa.  Mostly because you end up eating a ton of corn chips to get a relatively small amount of vegetables.  And salsa isn’t as filling as something like guacamole, which has healthy fats in it.

3.  Fruit as dessert after a meal.  It’s better than a big slice of cake.  But your body digests animal protein a lot slower than the carbs in fruit.  So eating meat and fruit back-to-back can create “digestive confusion” and make you feel bloated and gassy.

Also, wine with dessert isn’t a great idea, because the alcohol boosts your insulin production.  Then your body decides it doesn’t need the sugar from the dessert, and ends up storing those calories as fat.

4.  Sausage and biscuits.  Obviously it’s not the healthiest breakfast because of all the fat in it.  But it also makes your insulin levels spike.  So your body ends up using the carbs for energy first, and storing most of the fat.

Dead Toe Drink

The Drinks Business website claims the Downtown Hotel, in Dawson City, Canada, makes a cocktail that features a shriveled dead toe. An ex-Royal Marine from the UK recently donated three of his toes to the hotel after losing them to frostbite during an expedition to the Arctic. Bargoers, who drink the Sourtoe Cocktail can join the Sourtoe Cocktail Club by allowing their lips to touch one of the dead toes. Over 100,000 people have downed the drink.
