Dr Dre Hit With $25M Bill for Beats Headphones

Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine lose their lawsuit against a former partner in their Beats headphones deal. Steven Lamar and his company Jibe Audio came to Dre and Iovine in 2006 with an idea for celebrity-endorsed headphones along with several prototypes of the headphones. Dr. Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, and Iovine agreed that Lamar was involved in initial talks about the Beats headphones and provided only one prototype for the headphones and that he was compensated. Lamar claimed that he was owed $130 million for over a dozen versions of the headphones, however, the judge ruled that he is only owed for three models. Beats Electronics, Dr. Dre, and Jimmy Iovine were ordered to pay Lamar $25.2 million in royalties.
