Taylor Swift Donated $50,000 to a Young Fan Battling Cancer

Taylor Swift has just proven herself to be even sweeter than we already knew she was, by donating a whopping $50,000 to help pay for a young fan’s medical expenses as she battles leukemia. Her donation helps pay for a vital 6-9 month in-patient hospital stay for the 11-year-old just diagnosed with cancer, her kind donation and sweet personal message also made the little girl’s face light up with a beaming smile. Little Naomi Oakes, a dedicated Swiftie, was only recently diagnosed, and was devastated when she realized her long hospital stay would mean she had to miss Swift’s concert in Phoenix, Arizona. Check out this adorable video of Naomi reading Taylor’s message. Get more here.

Harry Shearer Is Returning to “The Simpsons”

“Simpsons” fans can stop worrying about how Flanders, Smithers, and Mr. Burns will sound next season, because Harry Shearer is returning to the show. In May, he left because of a contract dispute.  But he and the five other main voice actors just signed a new contract for seasons 27 and 28.  And Fox has the option of bringing them back for seasons 29 and 30 as well. They’ll each make about $300,000 an episode, which is around $7 million per season.  It’s actually what they were set to make before the dispute, but Harry has always said this wasn’t about money, he just wanted the freedom to do other stuff. It looks like the whole thing might have been a big misunderstanding though.  Executive producer Al Jean explained what happened on Twitter yesterday; “I have recently been told that during a period where [he] believed he had a five-week free period from’The Simpsons’, I was unaware, and did request material from him, I’m truly glad he’s returning to the show.” Harry also voices Principal Skinner, Otto, Dr. Hibbert, Lenny, Kent Brockman, Reverend Lovejoy, and a bunch of minor characters. Paula Deen Tweeted a Photo of Her Son in “Brownface”

Paula Deen has been caught in yet another racism controversy, this time after posting a photo of her son Bobby in brownface. It’s a photo where she’s dressed as Lucille Ball, and Bobby is done-up like Desi Arnaz, which is mostly just him with darkened skin. This immediately drew the attention of the Internet, and the post was deleted.  Of course, if anyone should know better it’s Paula, who nearly had her career ended by an even worse N-word controversy two years ago. So, she’s the one who has some explaining to do.  Paula hasn’t commented, but her spokesperson is blaming it on her “Social Media Manager,” who posted the photo, which was from a Halloween episode of a show of hers that aired in 2011. The rep adds, quote, “Paula immediately had this picture taken down as soon as she saw the post and apologizes to all who were offended.” And the Social Media Manager has been fired.
