Katy Perry said yesterday that she thinks a lot of her Super Bowl halftime show will be live . . . but she also said they only have a short amount of time to set up the stage and assemble everything, so it won’t be totally live. Menzel said singing the anthem before Super Bowl 49 is the culmination of a lifelong dream, one forged on Sundays watching football with her father. “It’s the pinnacle. Tom Petty Has No Hard Feelings Toward Sam Smith

Tom Petty issued a statement yesterday saying he has “no hard feelings” toward Sam Smith over his song “Stay With Me”, which sounds a lot like his old hit “I Won’t Back Down”. In fact, even though Smith and the other songwriters agreed to give Petty royalties from “Stay With Me”, Tom says he believes it was, quote, “a musical accident, no more no less.” He added, quote, “We easily came to an agreement.  The word lawsuit was never even said and was never my intention.  And no more was to be said about it.  How it got out to the press is beyond Sam or myself.” Get the full story here.

 

 

Justin Bieber Says He’s Doing the Comedy Central Roast to “Own Up” to Some of the Things He’s Done

Justin Bieber stopped by “Ellen” yesterday, and Ellen revealed she’d been asked to take part in his Comedy Central roast, but she refused, because she doesn’t like being mean to people. Then she asked Justin why he’s subjecting himself to that, and he said, quote, “I think it’s just cool to laugh at yourself.  I’ve done some things that might not have been the greatest. “I just want to be able to laugh about it and own up to some of the things.” Get the full story here.

 

 

Eddie Murphy Is Returning to “Saturday Night Live” for the First Time Since He Left 30 Years Ago

Eddie Murphy left “Saturday Night Live” in 1984, and he hasn’t been back since.  That’s more than 30 years.  But that streak ends in a mere two weeks. Eddie revealed in an interview this week that he will be a part of “SNL’s” 40th anniversary special, which airs Sunday night, February 15th. He said, quote, “They’re actually having a 40th anniversary I think in two weeks.  I’m going to that, and that’ll be the first time I’ve been back since I left.” Asked why he never went back, Eddie said, quote, “It’s just timing.  It just never worked out where the timing was right for me to do it.” Get the full story here.

Suge Knight Was Arrested for Murder in Hit and Run

Suge Knight got into a fight on the set of a film project in Compton, ran over a man who later died, and then fled the scene.   A fight broke out between Suge and 2 men. Suge got back into his car, took the wheel and threw the vehicle in reverse, floored it, and ran over a man who suffered fatal injuries. The victim is Terry Carter, who we’re told is a friend of Suge’s who arrived with him at the scene. Our sources say Carter was in the process of walking to the passenger door of Suge’s vehicle, but happened to be in the rear when Suge gunned it. Get the full story here.
