The Series Finale of “American Idol” was Full of Surprises

As expected, Season 1 co-host Brian Dunkleman helped kick off last night’s “American Idol” finale. It started with Ryan Seacrest hitting the stage as usual, but then Brian came out. He said, quote, “Well, well, well, Seacrest. Looks like after tonight, you’re going to be out of a job. Trust me, nobody knows the pain of life without Idol more than me. But don’t worry, buddy. Ya know what, being unemployed? It’s not that bad!” He added, quote, “I just wanted to stop by and congratulate the show on struggling along for another 14 seasons without me.”

As for the show itself, there were performances by a ton of former contestants from the entire 15-season run, plus William Hung and Larry Platt of “Pants on the Ground” fame. Just in case you forgot about them, see the videos below. Even former judge Kara Dioguardi sang.

And yes, the original judges’ panel of Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson put in an appearance. Simon was actually a surprise to Paula, Randy and Ryan. They had no idea he was actually there until he hit the stage.

As for the actual results, Trent Harmon beat out La’POrsha Renaeto become your 15th American Idol.

Notice how they didn’t say “15th AND LAST”. That’s because we’ve already heard that even though it’s done on Fox, the show is going to be resurrected in some way. Plus, when Seacrest signed off at the end of the night, he said, quote, “Goodnight, America. For now.” Get more here.

Demi Lovato Fell Onstage Again, but She’s OK!

Demi was introducing Reilly Scott at the WE Day California event yesterday, when she slipped and fell. Again. Demi falls a lot, but it only makes us love her more! Something about confident women falling down is so endearing! She’s ok, so feel free to laugh. Get more here.

Nicki Minaj Wants You to Know She’s Not Engaged

Everyone’s been working on the assumption that Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill are engaged. But Nicki said on “Ellen” yesterday that they’re not. Ellen asked about Nicki’s engagement ring, and was immediately corrected. Nicki said, quote, “First of all, that’s not an engagement ring, I have two rings from this boy that likes me, he said that that’s my second ring and that if I get a third ring, that that would be the engagement ring.” She added, quote, “We’re still figuring each other out.” Get more here.

Kevin Hart was Mistaken for Chris Rock, But Played Along

Kevin Hart and Chris Rock have a lot in common, they’re both hugely successful black comedians, both transitioned into acting, and they both have distinct and unique voices. But that’s pretty much where the similarities end. Kevin Hart is 36, and Chris rock is 51, Kevin Hart is only 5’4″ Chris is stately 5’10”. And oh yeah, they don’t look anything like each other! But Kevin didn’t take offense, in fact he posted this video to Instagram saying moments like this keep him humble.

These are the moments that keep me Humble #RockTheWorld #AllYouCanDoIsLaugh

Kevin Federline Is Rapping Again, and Taking Shots at Kanye West

It’s been a decade since Kevin Federline graced our universe with “Popozao”, an epic rap track that paid tribute to big butts long before Nicki Minaj gave us “Anaconda”. But, to be fair, long after “Baby Got Back”. He’s making an exciting comeback with a poppin‘ new single called “Hollywood” featuring Crichy Crich. It’s a pretty standard beat, with lyrics about partying, clubs, fame, and women in Hollywood being fake. And it’s got something “Popozao” didn’t, an attack. K-Fed takes a shot at Kanye West. The video even features a fake Kanye, fake Amber Rose, and a fake Leonardo DiCaprio, but a real Andy Dick, who plays a music producer. We won’t play it here, because it’s full of expletives and disgusting lyrics. It’s truly un-listenable, but if you must, you can get more here.
