McDonald’s ‘Rick and Morty’ Szechuan Sauce is Back Today

No need to use a portal gun to visit the universe where it’s always 1998. McDonald’s has brought back the Szechuan sauce for a limited time.

The Asian-inspired chicken nugget sauce was originally a promotional menu item to promote the 1998 release of Disney’s Mulan. But interest in the sauce was recently renewed after tracking some down became a plot point in season 3 of Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty.

After a brief and disasterous 2017 re-release, McDonald’s apologized for underestimating the amount of sauce needed, having shipped as little as 20 packs to some locations. McDonald’s promised to bring it back to make it up to everyone who didn’t get a chance to try it.

Today, 20 million packets are arriving at McDonald’s locations across the U.S. So grab your boo and get them a mess of nugs.
