Burglar Running From Police Jumps into Lake with Gators
22-year-old Matthew Riggins, of Florida was out committing burglaries, when police received calls about suspicious men in black walking behind homes and investigated. They began to look for them, using K-9 units and a helicopter, but both managed to evade authorities. Matthew called his girlfriend during the chase to let her know what was happening and to tell her he was laying low. Unfortunately, he decided to lay low near the edge of Barefoot Bay pond and was reported as missing by his family that same day. An alligator had drowned Matthew and then ate his remains. ‘He probably went into the lake to hide from the officers and the dog, and came across that gator,’ said Major Tod Goodyear of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
