Stupid Is, Stupid Does

A Man Fakes His Kidnapping and Only Asks For a $150 Ransom

I’m worried about this guy, because he clearly has some serious self-esteem issues. 20-year-old Austin Kaylor of Waco, Kentucky disappeared last week. He called his family and told them he’d been kidnapped, and the kidnappers were demanding a ransom of $150, or they’d kill him. His family called the cops, they traced his phone, and found him hiding out. He tried to run, but when they caught him, he admitted he’d made the whole thing up to get money for drugs. That’s right, he only estimated his own life’s value at $150. He was charged with falsely reporting an incident, disorderly conduct, theft by deception, and fleeing police.
