Lehi Man Causes 2 Hour Swat Standoff on I-15
76-year-old Wesley Raymond Carlson of Lehi, was pulled over for a minor traffic violation just before 10 p.m. on Wednesday. He complied with the officers requests for registration, and proof of insurance, however he gave a copy of his drivers license, his reason: “I don’t like to give out my hard copy, Police are not to be trusted.” Turns out his license was suspended, and both his registration and insurance were expired. The officer told Wesley to step out of the vehicle, that it was going to be impounded and he was going to jail for driving on a suspended license. Wesley rolled up is window and refused to budge. The problem is, Wesley has a laundry list of previous crimes, some of which include disorderly conduct and weapons violations. So the officer called for backup, SWAT surrounded the vehicle, closing the freeway to traffic, and the standoff began. He told reporters “All my life I had a squeaky clean criminal record and I still have a squeaky clean record” which is obviously not true. Wesley also believes that the U.S. Supreme Court case gave him the right to not have a license. It was clear he wasn’t budging and the freeway had to be reopened, so SWAT broke his window, tased him, and pulled him out of the car. Get more here.
A Woman Tried to Hit Her Parents With a Car, Got in a Police Chase, Then Got Naked
Well this family just got its front page story for the Christmas newsletter. 32-year-old Simone Gonzalez of Pasadena, California got into a fight with her parents on Friday night, and tried to run them over with her SUV. Fortunately she missed, and they called the cops. But when they showed up, Simone took off and got into a high-speed chase that wound up in downtown Los Angeles. Eventually Simone got out of her car, yelled that the cops were, quote, “legal slave traders,” said SHE was the police, and came up with a strategy to avoid getting arrested. She stripped totally naked, right there on the sidewalk. But believe it or not, that didn’t stop the police from arresting her. She was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, reckless driving, felony evading, and felony vandalism. It sounds like there could be a mental health issue here, but the police say she was medically cleared. Get more here.
