Man Tried to Steal a 1,600-Pound Drum of Pennies
Crime doesn’t pay, this crime, in particular, didn’t pay much at all. 34-year-old Robert Napolitan had a good job at Pyne Freight Lines as a mechanic. But apparently, Rob didn’t think he was getting paid enough. Rather than asking his employer for a raise, he decided he’d just take his raise in the form of pennies. The boss man at the garage had a 50-gallon drum that people would toss their pennies into. Robert decided that drum of pennies was his payday. He lied to his boss and co-workers, saying he’d be working late. But surveyance footage shows Rob pulling his Jeep Cherokee into the garage. Rob tipped the drum onto its side and rolled it into his vehicle. While rolling the drum, he lost some pennies, in fact, he lost a lot of pennies. Police were able to follow a trail of pennies to his vehicle. Rob admitted to stealing the pennies and was arrested for burglary, criminal trespass, and theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
