Stupid Is, Stupid Does

Police Save The Life of Man They Were Chasing

40-year-old Jeral Bornstein was driving a vehicle linked to a theft at a Walgreens, so police attempted to pull him over for questioning. But Jeral had no intention of stopping and even tried to swerve his vehicle into their cruisers. Eventually, Jeral bailed from his vehicle and took off on foot. But it was dark, and he didn’t see the canal behind the tree line. When the deputies caught up with him, he was in the canal and struggling to stay afloat. They didn’t hesitate to jump in and pull Jeral out, he was unconscious and they began CPR. After a few tense moments, Jeral coughed up water and regained consciousness. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he thanked and apologized to the officers. He was not connected to theft, he refused to stop because he did not have a drivers license. He will still be arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer for swerving toward the cruiser, driving without a license, fleeing to elude law enforcement, resisting arrest, and of course, speeding.
