Utah Police Detective Raising Money For Fallen Officers Memorial

Detective Chelsea Winslow needs your help to raise funds for the fallen officer memorial in Washington D.C.

Chelsea will ride her bike 300 miles along the East coast in honor of fallen officers across the nation.

She’s looking to raise $1,900 dollars or more to fund her entry. A portion of the funds raised will go to support the Fallen Officer’s Memorial in D.C.

According to Chelsea’s website:

Today in the United States, some 900,000 law enforcement officers put their lives on the line for the safety and protection of others. But that protection comes at a very high price. A few sobering statistics:

  • Every 60 hours a peace officer is killed protecting our families and communities
  • Each year, there are over 58,000 assaults
  • More than 5,000 injuries on law enforcement officers
  • On average, 146 officers are killed in the line of duty each year

The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial honors America’s fallen law enforcement heroes who have died in the line of duty. Their mission is to tell the story of America’s law enforcement officers and make it safer for those who serve.

But Chelsea isn’t just a police detective. She’s also my roommate, dog co-parent, and best friend. I can tell you first hand that she is deeply dedicated to her job, community, and fellow officers.

This year, Chelsea will be riding in honor of West Valley City officer Cody Brotherson, a young officer who was killed in the line of duty when he was struck by a vehicle driven by three fleeing teens.

She has until April 1st to raise the $1,900 and she’s nearly halfway there. If you are able to donate even $5 right now, it would go a long way to helping her with her goal and would be a great way to get involved with 105 Days of Love.
