A Guy Robbed a Lemonade Stand After the Girls Running it Gave Him a Free Drink
We’re really glad this guy got caught. Not just because he’s a thief, but because he’s an absolutely horrible excuse for a human being, and because he’s ruining summer. Two 13-year-old girls were running a lemonade stand in Rancho Cucamonga, California on Wednesday, when an 18-year-old guy named Santini Tate wandered up. He said he didn’t have any money, so the girls gave him some lemonade for free. And he thanked them by robbing them. He knocked over their lemonade stand, and stole their cash box. A brother of one of the girls chased Tate, and confronted him to no avail. He was able to retrieve the empty money box. The box had $30 inside, which isn’t too bad for a lemonade stand. Luckily the cops caught him about 10 minutes later, and arrested him for strong-arm robbery. Get more here.
Florida Man Shot Trying to Protect Baby Sea Turtles
A 72-year-old volunteer is recovering after he was shot in the hip late Friday during a routine volunteer shift in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. The dispute began when Michael Q. McAuliffe, 38, approached Stan Pannaman and another volunteer. McAuliffe said he did not like sea turtles and began pulling stakes from the perimeter of the protected nest. “There was a man sitting on a bench at the entrance of the beach who was giving off profanity. He got up and went toward one of the nests and very aggressively started pulling the stakes out.” McAuliffe hit Young and then Pannaman pulled out a gun, which McAuliffe took. Pannaman turned quickly enough that the bullet hit him in the left hip, Young said. “The guy freaked out when he saw the wound,” Young said. He said McAuliffe threw the gun into the sand. “He was saying, ‘I can’t believe I did this. I can’t believe I did this.'” McAuliffe is being held at a Brevard County jail without bond on multiple charges including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Get more here.
