There are thousands of emojis and people these days have an insatiable hunger for new ones . . . there’s probably even an emoji for demanding more emojis. But would they ever RETIRE old ones?
There’s a new report out on the “endangered” emojis, which have been DECLINING in use globally. And they’re NOT the random ones you’d think. Here are the 14 supposedly endangered emojis:
1. The Okay Hand.
2. The Flushed Face.
3. The Raising Hands.
4. The See-No-Evil Monkey.
5. The Victory Hand (or the Peace Sign).
6. The Man Tipping Hand.
7. The Smirking Face.
8. The Two Pink Hearts.
9. The Heart with an Arrow.
10. The Smiling Face with Sunglasses. If this one dies, Boomers will take it to the grave.
11. The Face Screaming in Fear.
12. The Winking Face with Tongue.
13. The Disappointed Face.
14. The Grinning Face with Smiling Eyes.
The report only analyzed the Top 100 emojis, so that’s why they ARE still some of the more common ones. And they aren’t saying they AREN’T being used . . . just that their usage is apparently declining.
Also: If they do retire any emojis, it’s unlikely that they’d drop ones as useful and expressive as most of these. Especially since their decline may be just because people have MORE OPTIONS than they did before.
Make sure to catch Jon & Chantel every morning!
The report also suggested some new, replacement emojis, and they have some decent ideas.
