Conan O’Brien joined “Toy Story 5” as the voice of a NEW character named Smarty Pants. He announced the news yesterday in a video where he joked that he asked for the role of Woody.
Quote, “I was like, ‘Uh, you kinda been there and done that. You know? You’re in a bit of a rut, don’t you think?’ And they said, ‘No, it’s Tom Hanks, it’s his role. And I went, ‘Guys, you gotta think outside the box . . .
“But anyway, then they showed me this new character, Smarty Pants. It’s the best character of them all. I don’t even wanna play Woody or Buzz anymore, even if they beg me. I’m Smarty Pants, I love this!”
Ernie Hudson is also joining the cast. He’s taking over as Combat Carl, since the passing of Carl Weathers.
Not too much is known yet about the plot, except the toys will deal with modern-day kids and electronics. Oh, and Tim Allen previously said there will be a focus on Jessie.
“Toy Story 5” hits theaters June 19th, 2026.
