There’s a scene in “Oppenheimer” where Robert Oppenheimer tries to KILL a Cambridge professor who acted as a mentor to him . . . by injecting an apple with CYANIDE. It doesn’t end up working.
However, Oppenheimer’s grandson Charles claims this did NOT happen. Quote, “There’s no record of him trying to kill somebody. That’s a really serious accusation and it’s historical revision.
“There’s not a single enemy or friend of Robert Oppenheimer who heard that during his life and considered it to be true.”
For the record, a “Vanity Fair” article from last week claims it IS true . . . although the author suggests the apple may have been injected with something other than cyanide, and was only intended to make the guy SICK.
