Help Utah Women Now!

Utah local Sydney Delacruz is on a mission to help bring sanitary packs to the homeless women of Salt Lake.

“I’m hoping that this project will give a little hope to our homeless community. I hope they take what I’m doing and pay it forward. I hope I meet some amazing people and get to hear their stories.”

What inspired Sydney to help?
“I saw a video about homeless women (and men) and the conditions they live in. I think it is important for people to realize that many homeless people don’t choose this lifestyle, they are forced into it. When I think of donating to homeless people I think about donating food but there is much more that we can do. Tampons (or pads), especially, are expensive but they are a necessary part of a woman’s life and confidence. I make sanitary packs that include tampons, pads, wet wipes, and a travel deodorant. Just $5 can fulfill 2 of those packages. In December I distributed 90 sanitary packs with (mostly) my own money. After my first successful drive, I’ve gained so much momentum on this project that I’ll be matching donations.  Eventually, I’d like to make sanitary packs for men as well. These sanitary packs for men will include deodorant, wet wipes, and tissues. Some people will argue that this project is only encouraging people to continue to live homeless in Salt Lake City but this isn’t about politics, this is about humanity.”

How can you help?
You can help by donating any sort of sanitary product (tampons, pads, wet wipes, deodorant, and tissues) to the Mix 1051 studios anytime Monday – Friday 9AM-5PM located at 50 West Broadway, Suite 200. SLC or at Kilby Court at 748 South Kilby Court, SLC.

Our goal.
We would like to collect as many of these products by Friday, March 9th, 2018. We will plan on taking over the sanitary packs on Saturday, March 10th, 2018
