Now I’m not saying this is THE best list, but it sure does come close.
*Disclaimer* I am by no means a Movie Critic – I just really enjoy watching movies – and before you go all crazy I purposely left off any sort of Netflix / Hulu / & Disney+ films on purpose. I only wanted to name ones that hit theaters.
2019 brought a lot of great cinematic films and here are my personal top 10 of the year. Now some of you might disagree and that’s okay. These are just the ones that stood out to me. What is your Top 10 of the year? (These are in no specific order)
Avengers End Game
This movie without a doubt made my list because it brought the Avengers together for their biggest battle yet. Even though I’m terribly heartbroken that it’s the end of Iron Man – I do believe that this is just the beginning for a whole new era of Avengers.
Booksmart
This movie was absolutely refreshing and really put in perspective of the generation youth to adapt and overcome their own vices. Plus it was just flat out hilarious from start to finish.
John Wick Chapter 3
I mean come on! How is this not on a Top 10 list? Just when you think the story can’t go anywhere, BAM Keanu Reeves pulls out the big guns, literally. With all the non-stop action and great storyline, this absolutely made my Top 10.
Captain Marvel
GIRL POWER! Captain Marvel was just one of those movies that really showed how powerful each individual can be. Plus GIRLS RULE!
Hobbs & Shaw
The Fast & Furious franchise has always been one of my favorites (Except for 2 Fast 2 Furious & Tokyo Drift – those movies sucked) and having this spin-off with Dwayne Johnson & Jason Statham was exactly what we needed. The witty banter and outrageous action scenes really made its way on my list.
Zombieland Double Tap
It’s really difficult for a sequel to be just as good as the original but they DID IT! The original Zombieland film was truly unique and to have a sequel definitely gave me my doubts but they pulled it off. With new additions to the cast this movie has me laughing from the very beginning to end.
Detective Pikachu
Bravo. This family-friendly movie was so enjoyable I actually forgot it was a movie for kids. With jokes for everyone this definitely was worth being in the top list. Plus that twist at the end! WOW.
Annabelle Comes Home
We all know I love Horror films and this one was the best of the year. The Conjuring series is my favorite and Annabell Comes Home really took the cake.
Midsommar
Okay, when I first watched this film my first reaction was “WTF?!” But after I decompressed I really enjoyed this film. It made you think a lot. Plus it was one of the most visually appealing films I’ve seen in a long time.
Joker
Now I know this movie received a lot of mixed reviews, but overall this movie was perfectly done. It had the right amount of darkness that really made you think about who you are deep down inside.
*Bonus* – only because I forgot that this JUST came out
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
Now this was the ending the Star Wars fans needed. Now I’m not going to spoil anything for you – you just need to watch it.
