After half a century in Hollywood, STEVEN SPIELBERG is finally making a musical. He just put out a casting call for a remake of “West Side Story”. Which is one of my least favorite musicals.
I didn’t know this, but the original movie won 10 Oscars in 1962, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actor and Actress.
The original Broadway production opened in 1957, and won two Tonys!
If you’re wondering if Spielberg can handle a musical, just check out the “Anything Goes” opening number from “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” in 1984 . . . featuring his future wife KATE CAPSHAW.
