“The Super Mario Galaxy Movie”

Mario and Luigi’s crew just added a familiar green face.

The newest trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie gives fans what they’ve been waiting for — Yoshi officially enters the big-screen adventure. After being teased previously, the beloved dinosaur is now front and center in the sequel’s intergalactic quest.

The preview shows Mario (Chris Pratt), Luigi (Charlie Day), Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy), and Toad (Keegan-Michael Key) traveling through different galaxies on a new mission. Along the way, Mario and Luigi stumble upon Yoshi inside a cave, and it doesn’t take long before he’s part of the action.

In one sequence, Yoshi and Toad work together to protect baby versions of Mario and Luigi from danger. Other glimpses from the trailer include Mario and Peach maneuvering through hazardous obstacles inside Bowser’s castle, Luigi rocking his classic Frog Suit, and Yoshi using a Super Scope 6 blaster.

Fans may remember that the first movie hinted at Yoshi’s arrival during a post-credits moment featuring his distinctive spotted egg beginning to hatch. This trailer confirms he won’t just be a cameo — he’s clearly a major part of the story.

Yoshi first appeared in the Mario universe back in 1990 with Super Mario World on the Super Nintendo. Since then, he’s become one of the franchise’s most recognizable characters, known for being a rideable companion and adding new gameplay abilities.

He even starred in his own adventure with Yoshi’s Island in the mid-’90s, cementing his place as more than just Mario’s sidekick.

Now, he’s finally making the jump from console to cinema in a big way.
