Moving Back in With Your Parents Basically Ruins Their Lives

Moving back in with your parents might make you feel kinda bad about yourself.  But here’s what you’re NOT thinking about:  It’s making your parents feel even WORSE.

A new study by the London School of Economics found that when someone moves back home, it causes a SIGNIFICANT drop in the quality of their parents’ life and wellbeing.

In fact, the negative effect is JUST as strong as if they had developed, quote, “an age-related disability.”

Translation:  You moving into your parents’ basement is just as hard on them as dementia or a broken hip.

Why?  It’s because they’re SUPPOSED to be entering the next phase of their relationship, developing new hobbies, traveling, and enjoying their independence.  When you move back home, you ruin all of that.

Five Things in Your Bathroom You Should Throw Away

We’re still a week and a half away from spring, so it’s not really spring cleaning time yet.  But you can get a jump on it by throwing a few things out.  Here are five bathroom items you should toss, besides your old ratty toothbrush . . .

1.  Old cases for your contact lenses.  Bacteria from your hands gets in there, and it’s basically impossible to get them totally sterile again.  So you’re supposed to use a new case every three months.

2.  Cosmetics that have changed color, odor, or consistency.  The oil that’s in them can go bad, and they can start to grow bacteria.

3.  Acne products that have been open for a while.  The kinds with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid start to decay pretty quickly.  They’re only good for about 4 to 6 months after you open them.

4.  The bottle of rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide you bought years ago.  They don’t go bad, but they lose potency.  There should be an expiration date on the bottle.

5.  Expired medications.  Don’t worry TOO much.  A Harvard study found 90% of them are still safe and relatively effective even 15 YEARS after they expire.  But a few you should NEVER use past their expiration date are insulin, liquid antibiotics, and certain heart medications or anything else with nitroglycerine in it.

44% of Americans Are “Chronically Underslept” Because of Their Job

This might explain why that idiot in front of you keeps drifting in and out of his lane . . . assuming he’s not drunk or texting.

According to a new survey, 44% of working Americans are “chronically underslept” because of their job.  Only 13% say they NEVER miss out on sleep because of work.  I guarantee NONE of those people work in radio.

Here are four stats on how our jobs are screwing with our sleep schedule . . .

1.  Younger workers are more likely to be underslept than anyone.  57% of 18 to 34-year-olds said they lose sleep because of work.  That’s compared to 45% of people between 35 and 54, and just 29% of workers older than that.

2.  Guys are slightly more likely to lie awake in bed stressing about work-related stuff.  50% of men said they do it, compared to 40% of women.

3.  The five cities that are the most sleep-deprived because of work are Miami, Nashville, New York, Chicago, and San Francisco.  The cities where it’s the LEAST common are Minneapolis, Cleveland, D.C., Pittsburgh, and San Diego.

4.  The top five work-related REASONS we miss out on sleep are:  Working too many hours . . . obsessing over a work-related issue . . . problems with a co-worker . . . worrying you might get fired . . . and having a nightmare of a boss.
