LeBron James Is Paying for Thousands of Kids to Go to College

I love it when professional athletes make headlines for a good reason.

LeBron James has partnered with the University of Akron in Ohio to provide guaranteed four-year scholarships to the school for the kids in LeBron’s ‘I Promise’ program,and as many as 2,300 kids could get to go for free.

They’re still hashing out the exact criteria, but the kids will have to graduate from Akron public schools, achieve certain attendance and academic requirements, and do community service.

The scholarships are worth roughly $9,500 per year per student. Now, if 2,300 kids get these scholarships, and go to school all four years, that’s $87.4 million.
