Maren Morris’ ‘The Middle’ Almost Went to Demi Lovato

One of the hottest songs of the year could have sounded a whole lot different.

The Middle has been everywhere lately. It has spent 12 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and finally cracked the top 5 last week.

But who knows what would have happened if it didn’t go to Maren Morris? According to a story in Variety, producers had recorded versions of the song with at least 12 big name female artists. And I mean BIG names.

Women who recorded or were in talks to record include Demi Lovato, Camila Cabello, Anne-Marie, Carly Rae Jepsen, Tove Lo, Bishop Briggs, Bebe Rexha, Lauren Jauregui from Fifth Harmony, Daya, and Elle King.

Apparently, Demi Lovato’s version was so close to happening, that she had to decide between The Middle and Sorry Not Sorry. We all know how that turned out. But TBH, I would pay an obscene amount of money to hear Demi’s.
