A High School Teacher Beats Up a Student Who Owed Him $4,000 For Weed
Has “Breaking Bad” inspired a whole generation of science teachers to moonlight in drug dealing? There’s a 48-year-old science teacher at John V. Lindsay Wildcat Academy in the Bronx named Kevin Pope. And back in June, apparently, he decided to get into the drug game. So he went to the best connection he could find, his students. Kevin asked a kid if he could put him in touch with a supplier, and the kid said he knew one. So Kevin gave him $4,000 to buy a bunch of weed from the guy, but the kid wound up spending the money instead. Kevin finally confronted him on Thursday and demanded either the money or the drugs. And when the kid couldn’t produce either, Kevin beat him up. He punched him in the face a few times, took his iPhone and his wallet, threatened to kill him and to sexually assault his mother if he didn’t get the money back in a month. But the whole thing was caught on a surveillance video, and Kevin was arrested at school on Friday. He’s been charged with assault and robbery. Get more here.
