Ed Sheeran Opened for Himself

Ed Sheeran made sure his fans didn’t miss out on an opening act on Saturday in Maryland when his opener, Khalid, got in a car accident.

Ed surprised fans with a 30-minute acoustic set of songs from his latest album, “Subtract”.  He said, quote, “[Khalid] is recovering, and we wish him the best . . . Usually when I start playing, it’s pitch-black and now I get to see everyone . . .

“It’s awesome.  This is pretty fun.  I kind of feel like when you’re the main act, there’s a bunch of pressure because people have paid to see you but I feel like when you’re the opening act you’re like, ‘Let’s have fun.  Let’s play songs.'”

Khalid will hopefully be back for their next show on Saturday in Boston.
