You pay as much as Prince William and Princess Kate to have a baby in the U.S. according to The Economist.
William and Kate welcomed their third child on Monday. While we still don’t have a name, we do know one thing; bringing him into the world is crazy cheap for what you get.
Kate had her baby in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital. Celebrities, royalty, and the lavishly wealthy choose Lindo for their maternity needs because of its security, discretion, 24-hour midwife services, and luxury suites. The afternoon tea service and hotel-like amenities aren’t bad either.
To top it off, Lindo’s experienced staff will tend to the child at night in their secure nursery so that parents can enjoy a four-course meal together complete with champagne and candles.
How much does all this cost? According to an article put out by The Economist, a private stay in the Lindo Wing cost £5,670 ($8,900 USD) for a 24-hour stay and non-Caesarean delivery.
A 2015 survey by the International Federation of Health Plans put a price tag of $10,808 on a comparable birth in the United States.
