A History of Hits and Controversy

Katy Perry’s collaboration with Dr. Luke on 143 marks a notable reunion. The duo previously created some of Perry’s biggest hits, such as “I Kissed a Girl,” “Hot n Cold,” “Teenage Dream,” “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),” “California Gurls,” and “Roar.” However, Perry did not work with Dr. Luke on her last two albums, Witness (2017) and Smile (2020), amid the producer’s legal battles and allegations of sexual assault by Kesha. Dr. Luke has consistently denied these allegations, and the long-running legal dispute was settled last year.
