I went to Spitz! It’s the home of the Döner Kebab. I’ve been there many times before. I love this place. The food is good, the atmosphere is cool and there’s an outside patio! They use a lot of cabbage which gives the meals a different taste.
There are 2 locations here in Utah; downtown and Sugarhouse. Apparently they also have locations in LA and San Diego.
I went to the one downtown. I usually get a wrap, but this time decided to try a salad instead. And am I glad I did! I got a Döner salad with chicken. It’s basically the wrap or sandwich, just in salad form, with a few extras. It’s got romaine, cabbage, carrot, onion, green pepper, cucumber, olives, feta, pepperoncini and tomato. I got it sans olives because olives are gross. It comes with both tzatziki and balsamic dressing. And you can choose a meat, falafel or veggies to top it off. The meat is street meat style, on a spit. They give you a side of pita too. This was a great salad.
It is tied with Padelis Street Greek for my favorite salad in downtown SLC. It’s got all the flavors of the sandwiches, but without the bread. I don’t know what seasonings they use, but it tastes different. So, if you’re looking for something a little different than a plain old Cobb salad, give Spitz a try! Also, you can get a beer there.
