Ariana Grande: Eternal Sunshine Drops in March
Ariana Grande is setting the stage for an exciting start to spring with the announcement of her upcoming album, Eternal Sunshine. Slated for a March 8 release under Republic Records, this album emerges as the successor to her previous hit, Positions. The buzz around Eternal Sunshine has been building, especially after the debut of her recent single, “Yes, And?”, complemented by a Paula Abdul-inspired music video. A Tribute to Grande’s Cinematic Fascinations
The choice of the album’s title, Eternal Sunshine, seems to echo the themes of Michel Gondry and Charlie Kaufman’s iconic 2004 film, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, starring Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet. Grande’s fascination with Carrey isn’t just a fan’s admiration. She had the opportunity to work closely with him during the second season of Showtime’s Kidding, a project that Gondry, connected with the original film, also contributed to as an executive producer and director.
Grande’s own words from 2019 capture her excitement about this collaboration: “thankful for the most special experience of my life.” She elaborated, saying it’s surreal “to work with and spend time with someone whom you’ve idolized and adored since before you could speak. What’s even more extraordinary is discovering that person to be more special and warm and generous in person than you ever could’ve imagined.”

A Collaborative Effort in Music Making
The creation of the lead single, “Yes, And?”, saw Grande teaming up again with Max Martin and Ilya Salmanzadeh, who were pivotal in the production of hits like “Problem” and “No Tears Left to Cry.” Since the release of Positions, Grande has been busy with her role in the highly anticipated musical adaptation of Wicked, sharing the spotlight with Cynthia Erivo.
With Eternal Sunshine, fans are eagerly waiting to see how Grande’s recent experiences, both on-screen and in the studio, have influenced her newest musical journey.
