BLACKPINK Members Embark on Solo Ventures

BLACKPINK just dropped some major news. Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa are stepping up their game, parting ways with YG Entertainment for their solo gigs while sticking together for all group activities.

YG Entertainment broke the news on December 29. They’ve renewed their contract with BLACKPINK for group stuff but are stepping back from managing their solo careers. “We’re all about supporting BLACKPINK’s group activities and are cheering big time for the members’ individual pursuits,” said YG in a statement.

Solo Ventures and Group Dynamics: A Dual Strategy

Earlier in December, YG confirmed the renewed BLACKPINK group contract. However, the nitty-gritty of these deals is still under wraps.

Jennie’s already making moves with her new record label, OA (ODD ATELIER). She’s all about crafting stuff that stands out, and OA is her brainchild, kicked off in November 2023.

Each member has already taken a dive into solo waters. In 2021, Rosé and Lisa dropped their debut solo albums. Rosé’s -R- rocked the charts with “On the Ground,” hitting number one globally. Lisa’s LaLisa album featured hits that made waves on the Billboard Hot 100.

Jisoo joined the solo scene in March with her single album Me, led by the track “Flower,” which soared to number two on the Global 200. Jennie, who first went solo in 2018, recently debuted on the Hot 100 with “One of the Girls” in a collab with The Weeknd & Lily-Rose Depp. Plus, she made a splash in the Weeknd-produced HBO drama The Idol.

As the most successful K-pop girl group in the U.S., BLACKPINK headlined Coachella and wrapped up their Born Pink World Tour in 2023. Their album Born Pink topped the Billboard 200, sealing their status as K-pop icons. Check out their 2022 hit “Pink Venom.”
