Perry’s Peppa Piggy Debut: A Pop and Pork Collaboration
The world of Peppa Pig is about to get a dash of pop glitter. Pop sensation Katy Perry is diving snout-first into the muddy puddles of Peppa Pig’s universe.
Perry’s Popping Appearance
In a move that will make little piggy tails wag with excitement, Katy Perry is set to voice a brand-new character, Ms. Leopard. This sassy addition comes just in time for the 20th birthday bash of the beloved preschool animated series, crafted by the genius minds of Neville Astley and Mark Baker.
For those who’ve been living under a rock (or perhaps a muddy puddle), Peppa Pig made its grand debut in May 2004 and has since been a staple on Nickelodeon and Paramount+ for kiddos in the U.S.
Behind the Scenes Buzz
The brains behind this piggy powerhouse, Hasbro Entertainment, managed to hold onto the franchise even after parting ways with their TV and film production division, eOne, handing it over to Lionsgate. And here’s some juicy behind-the-scenes tea: all the casting and filming for this special episode wrapped up before any of the drama with the actors and writers strikes. So, rest easy, it’s all on the up and up with SAG-AFTRA.
Ms. Leopard’s Grand Entrance
In this special episode, part of the Peppa Pig Wedding Party Special trilogy set to air in spring 2024, Perry’s Ms. Leopard will be the go-to dressmaker, stitching up some fabulous outfits for the historic Peppa Pig wedding of Mr. Bull and Mrs. Cow. Talk about a moo-ving ceremony.
This isn’t Perry’s first animated rodeo, though. Remember her stint in The Simpsons as Moe’s love interest? Or her blue-tastic role as Smurfette in The Smurfs?
