Doja Cat Drops New Album: Scarlet
Doja Cat released Scarlet, the much-anticipated sequel to her previous chart-topping Planet Her. This new album showcases some industry bigwigs behind the scenes.
Power-packed Production Team
Collaborating with notable producers like Rogét Chahayed, Kurtis McKenzie, London on da Track, Earl on the Beat, and Jay Versace, the album is as eclectic as it is catchy. Such an impressive lineup of producers has always brought a rich and diverse vibe to hip-hop, and this time is no exception.
Teasers and Tours
The Scarlet excitement began with catchy singles such as “Attention,” “Demons,” “Paint the Town Red” (which interestingly samples Dionne Warwick), “Balut,” and a captivating medley performance at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards.
Doja Cat will hit the road next month, joined by Ice Spice and Doechii to take the enthusiasm up a notch.
Behind-the-Scenes Tidbits
Wearing the dual hats of a singer and executive producer, Doja Cat ran into a slight hiccup: the original cover art for Scarlet bore a striking resemblance to another band’s album art. But being the creative force she is, a change was quickly implemented.
Besides the music, fans have more to celebrate. Doja Cat paired her album release with a mesmerizing video for “Agora Hills.” She took the directorial reigns alongside the talented Hannah Lux Davis, bringing the song to life on screen. Watch below:
