The on-going legal battle between Kesha and Dr. Luke continues.
In 2017 Kesha sent a text message to Lady Gaga alleging that Dr. Luke raped Katy Perry. Earlier this year, Perry had given a deposition on her experiences with Dr. Luke. Monday it came out that the Judge on Kesha case would release Perry’s deposition to the public and her team is now fighting to keep that private.
Perry’s legal team says that their client “Has no stake in this case and while she cooperated and provided deposition testimony as part of discovery, her testimony appears, at most, tangential to the case”. They also said that “Because of her high-profile status as an artist, advocate and role model, [Katy] is vulnerable to ‘gossip column’ frenzy aimed at exaggerating salacious matters having little to nothing to do with the merits—whatever they may be—of the substantive, material issues in this case,” and that “Given her tangential involvement in this lawsuit and its remoteness to the merits, her confidentiality and privacy interests should and can be respected.”
A Judge has yet to rule.
